Compliance Officer

Assist Senior colleagues in enforcement investigations, monitoring and reviewing compliance of planning conditions and obligations including legal agreements.

Planning Enforcement Officer
Hull City Council | 2005 – 2007
Investigating own caseload of enforcement cases and making professional judgements on whether breaches of planning control had occurred. Instigating appropriate informal or formal enforcement action. To provide professional advice and coordinate responses to enquiries and complaints from the general public, developers, other Council Departments, Council Members, Government and outside agencies relating to Enforcement matters as required.

Instigating proceedings against breaches of planning control in a correct and legal manner whilst ensuring that the City Council was protected from charges of maladministration and negotiating solutions, avoiding the need for formal Enforcement Action where possible. Preparing and serving Enforcement and Requisition Notices, issuing summonses and other legal documents on individuals as required to remedy breaches of planning control. Processing applications for major developments through all stages, including pre application negotiations with developers, negotiations with developers at application stage, dealing with the validation of the application, liaison and negotiation with consultees at all levels, preparing reports and dealing with planning appeals.

Principal Planning Enforcement Officer / Principal Planning Officer (Combined Roles)

To investigate known and possible breaches of Planning Control of a more complex nature which requires a depth of experience and professional competence, and to take Enforcement action and subsequent legal proceedings. Supporting the Planning Enforcement Compliance and Monitoring Manager in the supervision of enforcement officers, technical and support staff. Representing the Directorate and City Council at meetings ( internal and external ) including Committees, working parties, Public Inquiries, Hearings and Court to provide a professional planning service. Principal Planning Officer role includes the same role and responsibility as Senior Planning Officer, but with greater emphasis on more complex planning applications.
